THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION APPLIED FOR THE PATENTS OF 2 THOUSAND AND 291 PRODUCTS IN 2021

As a result of intellectual property rights projects carried out at the Vocational Education Institutes, Science Schools and Science and Arts Centers (BİLSEMs), the Ministry of National Education has applied for the patents of 2 thousand and 291 products in 2021. Noting that the success achieved in the first four months of 2021 reveals that the Ministry has reached an important point, Deputy Minister of National Education said, "the Ministry managed to establish important experience and culture about intellectual and industrial property rights in related education institutions and the Ministry obtained registry of 182 patents, useful models, designs and brands. I believe that we will easily reach our 2021 goals."

The Ministry of National Education has applied for the patents of a total of 2 thousand and 291 products in the first four months of 2021. As a result of these applications, the Ministry obtained a registry of 182 patents, useful models, designs and brands. Assessment process for the remaining applications still continues.
 
The Ministry has taken the first step of its intellectual property rights projects in vocational education institutions. As a result of projects carried out in the R&D centers in vocational schools, a total of 188 products received patents in 2020.
 
Later, science high schools and BİLSEMs were included in the project.
 
With the support of the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution, intellectual and industrial property rights training programs for teachers working in 183 BİLSEMS in 81 cities of the country were organized.
 
BİLSEMs applied for the registry of a total 1387 products in the first four months of 2021 and 74 of those received patents. The aim is to register 183 products of BİLSEMs in 2021.
 
The registration goal of vocational education for this year was set at 250. In 2021, they applied for the registry of 760 products and 99 of them received patents.
 
Thereby, BİLSEMs and vocational education institutions managed to accomplish 40 percent of this year's goal set in the first four months of 2021. 
 
Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: "The Ministry of National Education has taken important steps in the last year regarding intellectual property rights in vocational education, BİLSEMs and science high schools. As a result of our cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution, we have completed the training programs for principals and teachers in 81 cities of the country. Moreover, we established the intellectual property rights office in order to provide coordination of registry activities carried out in 81 cities and provide required support. We applied for the registry of patents for 2 thousand and 291 products in the first four months of 2021 and received patents for 183 of those products."
 
Goal is to register 753 patents, useful models, designs and brands
Stressing that the Ministry wants to create and widen awareness about intellectual rights among secondary education institutions, Özer said, "We have taken important steps regarding intellectual rights awareness in science high schools and BİLSEMs. We have organized training programs for principals and teachers of all science high schools and BİLSEMs in 81 cities of the country. We are aiming at registering at least one product of each science high school and BİLSEMs in the country in 2021. We also aim at making the registry of 250 products manufactured by vocational high schools. Finally, our goal is to register 753 patents, useful models, designs and brands. When we consider our success we achieved in the first four months of 2021, we see that we have reached an important point. I believe that we will easily achieve our goal. We also managed to gain important experience and culture about intellectual and industrial property rights in related education institutes. These will allow us to reach important success in the future."
