20th National Education Council was held between December 1 and 3, 2021 under the themes of "Equal Opportunity in Basic Education," "Improvement of Vocational Education" and "Professional Improvement of Teachers" and chaired by the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer. 107 of the total 124 proposals were approved unanimously and 17 of them were approved by majority of votes. Finally, the National Education Council made 12 advisory decisions.

Noting that he vowed to follow up the implementation of the decisions of the Council, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, "It was important that we had reached an agreement on major issues. In line with our accountability principle, we periodically share reports concerning the implementation of the decisions of the Council. We published the first report on March 6, 2022 that includes detailed information taken by our Ministry as a part of advisory decisions. It was reported that the Ministry has taken steps in line with the decisions and mainly focused on equal opportunity in basic education."

The second report that covers the three months period between March 3 and June 3, 2022 assesses compatibility between the advisory decisions of the council and policies of the Ministry of National Education.

"We have seen the results of steps taken in line with the advisory decisions. We have witnessed the dissemination of our policies to all parts of the country. We implemented 62 of the advisory decisions of the council during this period. We will continue to share reports in certain periods," said Minister Özer.
