Press Statement

As is the case the 2014-2015 school year has come to an end on June 12, 2015, the performance of the students have been evaluated according to the Ministry of National Education Secondary Education Regulations, their attendance and success have been recorded, successful students have moved on to a higher grade and students in their final year have been graduated.

However, judging from the applications of students and parents it has become apparent that some final year students who are in a position to enroll with a higher education institution have not been successful in their final year in some of their classes and while some have been successful in their classes have failed because of poor attendance records. It is apparent that this has created serious discomfort with students and parents.

So only to be valid for the 2014-2015 school year the Ministry has decided to take the following decisions at all the secondary schools:

• Retake exams will be held  during the third week of September. Students who are unsuccessful in only one subject will be able to take another retake exam at a date in September to be determined by the governor’s office of their province. Thus the year end success grades of the students will be revised.

• Students who have won a place in university but who have failed in the final year because of poor attendance will be able to enroll at the university as their poor attendance records will be wiped clean.

• According to the Higher Education Board ruling dated 01.07.2015 and number 37104 students who have won a place in a higher education institution through the 2015 university placement exam will be able to enroll to the university by October 6, 2015 provided they can document their condition appropriately.

In view of these measures there is no reason for students who have won a place in a higher education institution and their parents to feel concern.

We would respectfully like to inform the public.
