MINISTER ÖZER ATTENDED GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY OF AHMET KELEŞOĞLU SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Ahmet Keleşoğlu Science High School in Ataşehir. Noting that students are happy to be back at school, Özer stated that the Ministry is determined to continue face-to-face education.


Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Ahmet Keleşoğlu Science High School of the Ahmet Nezahat Keleşoğlu (ANK) Foundation.

Students greeted Özer with flowers and took pictures with the Minister.

Minister Özer said that ANK has been making investments in education in the entire country, giving scholarships and establishing schools and libraries.

Noting that face-to-face education began in 81 cities of the country on September 6 and it continued in all levels for five days a week.

"As of today, the rate of teachers with one dose of vaccination reached 93,2 and the rate of teachers who got two doses of vaccination is 87 percent while the rate of teachers who are immune and have antibodies in their system is 5 percent. 92 percent of the total of 1,2 million teachers are either got two doses of vaccination or are immune to corona virus. Our biggest advantage in achieving our goal to keep school open is the high vaccination rate among teachers," said Özer.

Noting that students are happy to be back at school, Özer stated that the Ministry is determined to continue face-to-face education. 

Özer stressed that important investments were made in all levels of education and the biggest portion of the 2022 budget is allocated to the Ministry of National Education adding that, "Thanks to these investments, the schooling rate in all levels of education is reaching the average of OECD countries. Schooling rate in secondary education, which was 44 percent in the 2000s, reached 88 percent recently. During the same period, the Ministry assigned an important number of teachers in order to reach the level of OECD average in number of classrooms per student or number of students per teacher. There were 500 thousand teachers in the education system in the 2000s and as of today, there are 1,2 million teachers in the system. In other words, 73 percent of current teachers were assigned during the last 20 years."

There will be Male Student and Female Student Dormitories, Sports Complex and Conference Hall in the Ahmet Keleşoğlu Science High School which will include 32 classrooms.
