BİLSEM TEACHERS AND STUDENTS HAVE DEVELOPED A "MUCILAGE CLEANING DEVICE"

Şahinde Hayrettin Yavuz Science and Arts Center located in the Ereğli district of the Zonguldak province has developed a mucilage cleaning device that cleans the sea surface and the sea bed and leaves no waste to harm nature."

Karadeniz Ereğli Şahinde Hayrettin Yavuz Science and Arts Center Biology Research and Development Group students and teachers have developed a "Mucilage Cleaning Device" that fights mucilage that invaded the seas and cleans the sea surface and the sea bed  The device does not harm homes and eggs of sea creatures, has the feature of upward flow as a result of adhesion and cohesion forces, and continuously works with renewable energy in an effort to the clean sea surface and sea bed.

With the support of the Ministry of National Education, four different versions of the device were designed and the center applied for the registry of the patent of the device. Prototype developed and completed by the center was launched on the water and it collected waste from the sea bottom and surface and stored them in the dumpster filter.

The device has many advantages such as using fossil fuels, not causing any waste in nature and cleaning without harming any sea bed creatures.

The original size of the device was designed as 10x10 meters which can also serve as a fishing platform. The device floats stably on water and will not be affected by the waves; these features make the device suitable for line-fishing. This will prevent trawl fishery and will provide an opportunity to improve the sea bed ecosystem.
