250 LIBRARIES FOUNDED IN 81 CITIES THROUGH RECYCLING

The goal of establishing 250 libraries in 81 cities through recycling within January with the purpose of encouraging recycling culture was achieved within 25 days.  Noting that there is at least one library established through recycling in every city, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said, "İstanbul has the largest number of recycled libraries. There are 14 libraries established through recycling in İzmir and there are 13 such libraries in Antalya and Muğla."

The Ministry of National Education founded 16361 new libraries as a part of "No More Schools Without Libraries" Project which began in October 2021 and ended on December 31, 2021. Within the framework of the project, existing libraries were updated and the number of books increased from 28 million to 42 million.

Recently, the Ministry has decided to merge this project with the "Zero Waste" project in order to encourage recycling culture and planned to establish 250 libraries in 81 cities of the country through recycling.

The goal of establishing 250 libraries in 81 cities through recycling within January with the purpose of encouraging recycling culture was achieved within 25 days.

The project was initiated at the Ağrı Erol Parlak Fine Arts High School  and the Ministry had founded a new library based on the zero waste principle.

Waste materials collected from different parts of the country were used for the construction of the library by school administrators, teachers and students. Waste panels, wooden boards, desks, paper, glass, boxes, plastic materials, computer pieces, music instruments, cables, strings and textile materials were recycled by teachers and students into desks, library shelves, chairs, tables and accessories as a part of the zero waste project.
